Who we are

ScanSupply supplies survey, GNSS, LiDAR and 3D scanning equipment across Canada and the United States. This policy covers scansupply.net and the quote and contact forms on it.

What we collect

What you type. When you submit a quote request or contact form we collect the details you enter: your name, work email address, and optionally your company name and phone number, together with any description of your project or equipment requirements that you choose to provide.

What your browser sends. When a form is submitted we also record the page you submitted it from, your IP address, the country your request came from, and your browser's user agent string. We use these to prevent automated spam and abuse of the form, and to know which part of the site your enquiry relates to. In Canada an IP address can be personal information, so we are telling you plainly that we keep it.

What analytics collects. See the analytics and cookies section below.

We do not ask for, and you should not send us, payment card details, government identification numbers, or confidential client information through these forms.

Why we collect it

We use the details you submit for one purpose: to prepare and send you a quote or to answer your enquiry, and to follow up on that specific request. We do not sell your information, we do not rent it, and we do not add you to a marketing list because you asked for a price.

We use the technical details your browser sends to keep the form usable: to block bots, to limit abuse, and to understand which pages generate enquiries.

Cookies and analytics

This site uses Google Analytics 4, a service provided by Google. Google Analytics sets cookies and reads device identifiers in order to measure how the site is used: which pages are viewed, how long visits last, roughly where in the world visitors are, what type of device they use, and whether a quote request was submitted. It does not receive your name, email address or the contents of your message.

You can read how Google uses this data at How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services. You can opt out of Google Analytics entirely, on every site, using Google's browser opt-out add-on, or by using your browser's own cookie controls or a tracking blocker.

We also use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which is cookieless and does not track you across other sites, and Cloudflare Turnstile, which checks that form submissions come from a person rather than a bot.

We do not use advertising cookies and we do not track you across other websites.

Who we share it with

We share your details only where it is necessary to fulfil your request or to run the site. That may include a manufacturer or distributor when a quote requires configuration or availability confirmation from them, and the following service providers:

• Cloudflare hosts this site, stores quote submissions, and provides bot protection and cookieless analytics.
• Resend delivers the notification email that tells us a quote request has arrived.
• Google provides the analytics described above.

These providers process data on our behalf and are located in or transfer data to the United States, which means your information may be stored or processed outside Canada and can be subject to the laws of that country. We do not share your information with anyone else, and we do not sell it.

How long we keep it

We keep quote enquiries for as long as needed to serve the request and to maintain a record of the quotation, and no longer than 24 months after our last contact with you about it, unless you have become a customer and we need the record for warranty, service or accounting purposes.

Google Analytics data is retained for 14 months and then deleted automatically.

You can ask us to delete your information sooner at any time.

Your rights

You can ask us what information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Depending on where you live you may also have the right to receive your information in a portable format, to withdraw consent, or to ask that information about you be de-indexed. Write to Sebastian@scansupply.net and we will respond.

If you are in Canada and you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada. If you are in Quebec, you can complain to the Commission d'acces a l'information du Quebec.

Email we send you

If you request a quote we will reply to it. We will not add you to a marketing list on the strength of a quote request. Every commercial email we send identifies ScanSupply and includes a way to tell us to stop, which we action within ten business days.

Security

This site is served over an encrypted connection. Quote submissions are transmitted over HTTPS, checked for automated abuse before they are stored, and kept in an access-controlled database. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, so please do not send sensitive or confidential information through a web form.

Changes to this policy

If we change what we collect or who we share it with, we will update this page and change the date at the top.
