Handheld LiDAR questions
Do I need control points or GNSS for SLAM scanning?
No. Real-time SLAM builds the point cloud from the scanner's own LiDAR and motion, so you can capture indoors and in GPS-denied spaces without control. Control points can still be used where you need to georeference the result.
What accuracy can I expect from a handheld scanner?
Survey-grade handheld SLAM scanners deliver relative accuracy in the low-centimetre to sub-centimetre range, depending on the environment and how the scan is closed. We'll match a system to the accuracy your deliverables require.
What software do I need to process the scans?
Point clouds are processed in the manufacturer's SLAM and modeling software, then exported to standard formats for CAD, BIM, and GIS. We include the right license in your quote.
