What the work looks like here

Greater Toronto work is dominated by vertical construction and transit. Crews are staking layout on constrained downtown sites, capturing as-builts inside occupied buildings, and running topo for development parcels out through Peel and York. That mix pushes buyers toward a rover that handles urban multipath and a handheld scanner that does not need GNSS at all indoors, rather than one tool trying to do both.

Local market

The Toronto market

Toronto is Canada's largest construction market, and the pace shows: transit expansion, high-rise towers, and infrastructure renewal all run on accurate positioning and reality capture. Whether you're staking layout on a downtown site, capturing as-builts for a retrofit, or flying topo for a development, ScanSupply supplies and supports this equipment across Canada and the US, so a GTA crew is not waiting weeks on an overseas order.

Set up for how you work in Ontario

Works with your Ontario RTK network

Our GNSS receivers speak RTCM/NTRIP and connect to the commercial real-time networks GTA surveyors already run, including Trimble Can-Net and Hexagon/Leica SmartNet, as well as a base-rover setup. Tell us your correction source and we confirm compatibility before you buy.

Built for GTA airspace and RPAS rules

Commercial drone work in Canada falls under Transport Canada RPAS rules (pilot certificate plus a registered aircraft). Much of the core GTA sits in controlled airspace tied to Toronto Pearson and Billy Bishop, so mapping flights typically need an Advanced certificate and NAV CANADA authorization. We help you pick a platform that fits the way you actually fly here.

The datum trap in Ontario

Ontario made CGVD2013 its official vertical datum on 29 February 2024, and NAD83(Original) is being phased out by 2028. Deliverables still quoted on CGVD28 or NAD83-ORIG need converting, and the epoch here is 2010 — not the 1997 used next door in Quebec.

Correction networks operating in this market

We confirm which network you run and verify the receiver configuration against it before quoting. We do not publish mountpoints or credentials, and we do not claim compatibility we have not checked.

FAQ

Buying survey gear in Toronto

How does support work if you are not based in Toronto?

We do not run a Toronto storefront. We supply and support GNSS receivers, scanners, and mapping drones for crews across the GTA from within North America, with genuine equipment, the full manufacturer warranty, and help arranging calibration and service through the manufacturer's service network.

Will a GNSS rover work with Toronto RTK correction networks?

Yes. Our receivers connect over NTRIP to the commercial networks used in the GTA (such as Can-Net and SmartNet) and to your own base. We confirm your exact correction workflow before you purchase.

Who you are dealing with

The people specifying your configuration have run this equipment on real sites, not just sold it. That is why a quote comes back with a recommendation and a reason, rather than a line item.

  • Authorized CHC Navigation dealer for Canada and the United States.
  • North American stock, so availability is a real answer and not a transatlantic guess.
  • Every specification sourced. Where a figure is a manufacturer claim under their own test conditions, we say so.
