Overview
What the FARO Focus Core is for
The FARO Focus Core is the entry point into the current Focus line, and it is not a cut-down scanner. It measures to the same ±1 mm ranging error and the same 2 million points per second as the Focus Premium Max, in the same 4.4 kg body. What you give up is reach: 100 metres instead of 200 or 400. For interiors, as-builts, scan-to-BIM, and most building work, that is the whole job, and paying for range you never use is the most common mistake buyers make in this category.
Choosing
Is the FARO Focus Core right for your job?
Good candidate when
Interiors, as-builts and scan-to-BIM where the whole job sits inside 100 metres. It is the same measurement core as the rest of the line, so nothing is given up on accuracy or speed.
Consider another route when
Exteriors with long sight lines, façade work at distance, and open topography. You are buying reach, and this has the least of it.
Against the alternativesAgainst Premium and Premium Max: identical ranging error, identical speed, identical body. Range, camera and Flash licensing are what change, and the PanoCam mount ships only with the Max.
