Crews cover ground rather than climb it, which favours aerial mapping and network RTK, and every deliverable has to declare whether it is on grid or on surface coordinates.

Surface, or ground, coordinates are routine across North Central Texas. TxDOT delivers control in both surface and grid and publishes county surface adjustment factors, so a DFW deliverable that does not state which one it is on is ambiguous. Confirm grid versus surface before anything gets staked.
